NU 6 Assignment topic #1 by Joevic C Pasit

NU 6 Topic # 1  : New Business Set Up
By : Joevic C.Pasit –AGSB –REGIS CLASS ILOILO
New distribution network approach for Agchem industry;
Before the introduction of the generics compound in the market, there are only few numbers of multinational companies distributing the crop protection chemicals for the control of pest and diseases that damage the agricultural crops.
The multinational companies set up then was to appoint distributors in the provinces. These distributors will be the one to cater the requirements of the dealers who is the one selling directly to farmers. The set up have been effective then as there are no other channel that the dealers will depend on their purchases.
This set up was also profitable both to the distributors and the dealers since they can control the pricing and protect their profitability. Competition is not that stiff between dealers in a locality and they can ensure the  quality of the product they are selling.
The market has changed when the generics compound was introduced. A group of people who were formerly connected with the multinational companies form their companies and carried generic brands. These group are selling directly to the dealers and no longer follow the traditional distribution network. As more generics local companies are doing this multinational company distribution have been affected in terms of volume and the price  of the original branded products were highlighted by these generics company giving them the opportunity to eat up the market.
The new set up that I will be proposing to introduce to Jardine Distribution Inc (JDI)  will be to breakdown its distribution network meaning open additional distributor as secondary distributors on a per territory . These distributors are those that are considered  as the big dealers having annual volume of business of more than 10M.
With this set up, there will be an assurance of product availability and will prevent stock out. With this set up there will be an equal footing when it comes to distribution but the advantage would be in the marketing campaign in the field in which JDI is fully represented.  3

NU6: at UI MBA Regis Tablets for Iloilo Taxi

NU 6: Taxi Ads
by: Christian Rafael
Regis MBA Iloilo

Competition in the Taxi Transport in the Philippines is getting fiercer everyday with a lot of fly by night taxi services being offered, and i thought that its high time that a taxi service differentiate it self buy bringing ads to its customers, to make it sound better, customers will be given information about the city or events that will happen in a week or new restaurants that are opening and other stuff. With the advent of electronics getting cheaper and cheaper everyday, taxi companies will be able to equip their cars with tablets and bring value to their customers

The tablet will open a whole new world for operators especially here in Iloilo where the city is slowly becoming a commercial hum for Western Visayas but for Visayas as a whole.

Tablets will be able to do the following
1. keep customers informed of the route so as to minimise confusion
2. inform customers with events in Iloilo through ads, and by doing so generating additional income for the operator
3. give customers a chance to relax despite being in a traffic situation, as the City of Iloilo continues to grow, the traffic problem needs to be solve and this can be a solution for the customers of the Taxi Company

a tablet can be had for about 5,000 pesos and cheaper ones are also available. If a Taxi Company will be contracting an advertising venture with a certain business for a very low price of P70 per ad, per day, the tablet will be paid for in less than 3 months, Plus with the options of tracking your route, customers will more than likely prefer having that rather than non, even if you dont need it

With more to offer and having the same fare rates, the Taxi Co will be able to attract more customers and bring in more profits by differentiating with very minimal 4

NU 6 UI AGSB by Christian Rafael - Ramping up tourism in Iloilo

NU 6: Part Time Opportunistic Tourist
By: Christian Rafael
Regis MBA - Iloilo

The fun starts December here in the Philippines and especially here in Iloilo it follows through up to February. After Christmas, we have the New Year then the Dinagyang Festival, the Chinese New Year (which i believe only Iloilo and Binondo is celebrating) after which we have the Candelaria Fiesta in Jaro one of the biggest fiestas in the Philippines attracting high rollers in the Cock Fighting industry. And this does not take into account Ati Ati Festival which is a mere 3 hour ride from Iloilo to Kalibo or Cebu's Sinolog Festival also 15mins away by plane. Definitely there is a lot that is happening in these months in the Visayas.

There is something in tourism that i believe will help greatly the Filipinos, being a service base industry. People here can speak english fluently, and more and more foreign tourist visit the country every year. Not just that, but also with the advent of cheap flights available to locals, domestic tourism is also on the rise.

Aside from that, the local government of Iloilo is ramping up tourist friendly projects like the "Esplanade" and the "Carless Calle Real". The local government is also working with schools in developing trainings for tourist guides that they may be able to explain and guide the tourist coming.

The problem i see really is that the structure to increase tourism is already there. Iloilo is one of the most touristy cities in the Philippines, with Boracay - the biggest destination in the Philippines they say, a mare 5 hour drive but inspite of that nobody is marketing it correctly - or marketing period. We have tourist but i consider them incidental where in they are already here or they already planned of going here despite not hearing anything about the tourism in Iloilo. I think its important now, though i bit late already, for the local government to invest and spend for the tourism industry here in Iloilo, We cant wait for the DOT as their Chairman has already said they cant spend anything for a specific destination, what they can only spend on is for the whole country. 3  (more smart suggestions)

NU12#8: What Pisses Me Off at GSB? - lack of power cords for laptops

NU12#8: What Pisses Me Off at AGSB?
By Gio Mendoza

Almost every student are using pads or laptops during class to take notes and research on the subject being discussed. Most of the time, such devices and even our mobile phones needed charging at the end of each day's work where classes at GSB MBA usually starts. There are just a handful of power outlets in each classroom and they are located at the walls so when you plug in your device the cable crosses the path where students pass by to get to their seats. This set up often result to accidental tripping, breakage of adapters and class gets distracted as a result. Instead of placing the power outlets on the room walls, I suggest that AGSB should simply have it built-in on each table. This will make it more convenient for students to plug in and such undesirable incidents and distractions can be totally avoided. Students who needs a charge does not have to pick to sit at the last rows just to have this facility as well.  3
