NU10 #8 WATER HOSE with HOLES and SPECIAL ADAPTOR for VERTICAL GARDENS by Rosalyn P. Donato
The Background
With the climate change and consciousness on environmental issues, there is a trend towards the "greening" of the urban centers. This led to the popularity of vertical gardens. These gardens are sights to behold especially when they are lush. At least for those installed in our metropolis' major thoroughfares, I cannot help but think that those who designed them did not realize how these gardens can be sustained. Most of them where placed in areas where they won't be viable and maintaining them can pose a challenge. And most of the time, even just watering them can aggravate the traffic conditions in the area.
How the Innovation Will Work
By installing a regular sized water hose with tiny holes running through the different layers of the vertical garden can help in the viability of the plants. The hose should be connected to a water supply which can be turned on and off in a scheduled time.
Gains from the Innovation
By having a steady water supply to these vertical gardens, the viability of the plants in this type of gardens will be ensured. Watering them will be an easy task performed by less people, reducing manpower costs as well. It will also avoid the traffic caused along major thoroughfares when they use the water trucks in maintaining these vertical gardens.
Implementation of the Innovation
The water hose with tiny holes will be installed in a horizontal fashion in the different levels of the vertical garden. The water hose designed with a special adaptor will be connected to a water supply. The water supply maybe tapped from an existing water plumbing/pipe system in the area. This can be controlled remotely by a knob wherein the "gardener" can make his rounds at scheduled time to turn on and off the control. This will ensure that the plants will be watered adequately and therefore be maintained beautifully. 3,5
