4th NU12 Topic: Unified MRT, LRT & Bus Card
Singapore's EZ link or Hong Kong's Octopus card?
I'll bet either of the two transport system is best to be applied in the Philippines.
Best features of these unified card system:
What will be the benefits if applied in Philippines:
- Applicable in all of their MRT lines, no need to exit from one MRT line to transfer into another (due to interconnected MRT lines), no need to buy new ticket/card when transferring to other MRT lines.
- One card system for our MRT & LRT lines, only one (1) card to maintain, less hassle by not frequently falling in line to purchase a new card when transferring from MRT to LRT or vice versa (esp. when you're holding only a single journey ticket)
- Applicable also in their buses, same rate charges
- Unified rates / no overpricing (esp. when you're not familiar with the area you're going in), no bus collector that keeps on moving around (esp. when the bus is full)
*Still with an option of not using the unified card in the buses
- Can be used in convenience stores
- Can be used as back-up money for purchases in the convenience stores esp. when you are saving your cash.
- Easily reloadable / Easy monitoring (with mobile app)
- This one card system will also come up with a mobile app for easy monitoring of the card balances, MRT & LRT stations, and with an option of online card e-loading thru credit card payment.
