Louis Vuitton, Prada, Hermes, Channel...these are just a few of the brands that every girl would love to have. Tagged as "arm candy", a signature bag has gone from utility to status symbol. The price and demand for these bags have gone so high that these are accepted as collateral in selected pawnshops. Because of this, signature bags have been the target of many syndicates. Mall and restaurant management post warnings to clients to make sure that bags are secured. Despite of the warnings, many have fallen victim to the bag snatchers.

I have personally experienced such a tragic event. It happened when I was walking towards the office and a man riding a motor bike swiftly grabbed my bag. The initial reaction was to run after the culprit, but after a while the realization hit me and I thought that it was useless to pursue a man on a motorcycle while I was on foot. This pissed me off.

So my new idea involves a small homing device embedded in the bag/purse carrying the authenticity details. An app that will be downloaded by the new bag owner (from Louis Vuitton, Channel or Prada) onto a communication gadget will be able to track the device, therefore locating the bag itself. In cases of theft, the owner will be able to trace the location of the bag and apprehend the thief. This idea will help minimize the rate of bag snatching. The only way a snatcher or thief could get to the device is to destroy the bag and nobody will buy bad goods. 3

In case a bag owner decides to sell her bag/purse, the details and ownership may be transferred to the buyer by logging onto the Louis Vuitton website and registering the name of the new owner.
