Background
The Philippines is one of the densely populated countries in Asia and it is continuously growing. Its life expectancy rate for both male and female is 69.4 as of 2011. Communities and people are dispersed from small to large entities.
As the Philippines is still considered a 3rd world developing country, its health service is considered as one of the many neglected and less prioritized area and as such people don’t have ready access to basic medical services and, situations could go bad in case of critical situations. ( 3 years ago, ADB removed PHL from ldc list)
Challenge
While communities have health centers its ratio is normally 1:1 meaning, 1 health center per 1 “barangay” regardless of its population count. Often you will see people piling up to get basic medical services like check-up, blood pressure tests, etc and the number constitute mostly as early and young as newborn to 10 years of age down to 45 onwards. This constraint limits the rendering of good basic medical service.
