5th NU12 Topic: Job creation across the country by Carlo Senica

5th NU12 Topic: Job creation across the country

High unemployment rate. Job mismatch. Crowded metro manila. Traffick (One province, one product concept -  DTI actually adopted this before)

These are some of the results when everyone is trying his/her luck to get a job here in the metro and nearby provinces where the industrial park resides.

Why don't we create more jobs at the provinces itself? We can focus on what are the main products suitable on that area (like tobacco in region 1, rice field in region 2, and etc…) this suitability will depends on the type of lands present on that area (where a specific fruit/vegetable crop will bear fruit at its finest). I'm not saying that people from the provinces will be a farmer; others can put up a plant (this is for investors/entrepreneurs seeking an opportunity) or work in the plant (if already existed) - where they can make any processed food (fruit/vegetable/etc…) as their product which are of export quality. They can also sell it to neighboring region if they don't want to export. Then everything follows: stores, malls, hospitals, and other businesses that will support the livelihood of that area will be eventually present.

What should the government do to make this plausible?
1.       Better transportation system linking the provinces from Luzon to Visayas to Mindanao.
2.       Entry and exit ports must be increased across the country to avoid additional logistical cost when they need to import/export their product and other materials. These ports must be strategically situated near our neighboring country to minimized logistical cost.
3.       Lastly, SUPPORT the Regions, not just Metro Manila.  3

Benefits:
1.       More jobs will be created.
2.       Less traffic in Metro Manila.
3.       Families can/will still be together by not leaving their homeland.
4.       If working properly, more investors will be encouraged to invest since we have lands to cultivate and we are surrounded by waters to fish.
