Before I had a car, I've been a commuter for quite a long time. My job involves fieldworks, and sometimes we have to proceed directly to our client's offices or residences. Commuting is quite a hassle especially if you're not familiar with the place and its public transportation. Since every mobile phone today is internet-ready, I wanted to develop a Commuter App. We do the navigation apps (GPS -based) which tells you your location and shortest routes to certain places from your origin but through a private car. So what about the commuters? The Commuter App, just like the existing mapping applications, will show you your location. Let's say your in Makati 's Central Business District, along Ayala Avenue to be specific, and you wanted to go SM Megamall, so what are you going to do? What public transportation will you take to be able to go to your destination? The Commuter App will tell you (or show you) the nearest public transport terminal, and the means of public transport to take. Just input your destination and possible choices will be shown. It will also tell you that you can a city bus as alternative to the MRT3, or if want to ride the jeepney, it will tell you which jeepney to board on and what signage should it bear. It will tell you your possible options (as many as possible), and how much estimated time will it take you to reach your destination and the distance from your point of origin. The simplest and last option it will display, of course, is to take a cab. 4
