Power of 2000 suns - electricity and potable water from IBM research

In a startling discovery, IBM Research based in Zurich Switzerland made a landmark discovery of harnessing 30% of the sun's energy while at the same time producing clean potable drinkable water (even salt water)

The system works this way:   the sun's energy is captured and focussed by parabolic reflectors where 30% of the sun's energy is converted into electricity.  This is a space age technology that uses triple junction pv cells. Then another 50% of the sun's energy is captured by heating water and purifying the same for consumption
